Calling

Call notification with careers

Calling provides a flexible usage of WARs assist mechanic and adds some convenience to it.

Selected features

  • Assisting is independ of ingame organization of players: You can coordinate without being in the same group or warband.
  • You can dynamically form a Calling-Group within which every player can call for assist on his/her current target. Thus, you do not have to pre-determine an assist leader.
  • Whenever a call is issued, all members of the Calling-Group get an onscreen message with the most vital information about the call.

How to Call

Step
Caller
Others
1.
A player within a Calling-Group searches and targets an enemy (player or NSC).
2.
This player (the Caller) calls the target by either clicking the Call Macro or pressing the hotkey assigned to the macro's action-bar-slot.
3.
All members of the Calling-Group get a visual notification (underlined by a sound) that the Caller asked for assist on his target.
4.
Everyone in the Calling-Group can now get the Callers' current target by clicking the Target Macro or pressing the appropriate action-bar-slot's hotkey.
Alternatively each entry in the Calls-List can be clicked in order to assist the respective Caller.
5.
Now the enemy can be slain with the combined power of all Calling-Group members ;)

Group Management

In order to create a Calling-Group:

Step
Creator
Others
1.
Click on the Calling-Icon near the minimap...

... and choose "Create" from the appearing dialog.
2.
The Calling-Icon will change its color to orange as soon as the Calling-Group is created.
Click it again in order to bring up another dialog, from which you choose "Invite".

Choose the chat channel to which you want to send the invitation from the next dialog.
By clicking "Invite" here, an invitation message will be send to the chosen chat channel.
3.
Everyone getting the invitation will now see a dialog, inviting him/her to your Calling-Group (of course the recipients need Calling installed in order to get this dialog).
Now your fellows can join the Calling-Group and you can start calling enemies as described above.

In order to join an existing "Calling-Group":

  • Click on the Calling-Icon and choose "Request" from the dialog.
  • In the following dialog you can choose which chat-channel you want to direct your request to.
  • Shortly after sending the request, you will get an invitation dialog for each Calling-Group reading your request.

Setup

  1. Open the Calling-Setup by right-clicking the Calling-Icon.
  2. Click the submenu "Macros" and Drag'n'Drop the two macros "Call" and "Target" into your action bar.
  3. Optionally set up keybindings for the macros, using the Keybinding section of Calling Setup or WAR's keybinding menu.

Additionally it is highly recommended to read the Tutorial section of Calling Setup.

Feel free to explore the Calling Setup for further options.

Feature List

  • Dynamic requests for assists through the Call macro.
  • Audiovisual feedback for all assisters is triggered whenever a target is called. The notification includes the class icons of the caller and the called target, as well as their names.
  • On single usage of the Target macro, you assist the last caller in your group.
  • An ingame tutorial guides you through the most important mechanics of the addon. This tutorial can be found in the Calling Setup which can be shown by right-clicking the Calling Icon.
  • Calling groups can be dynamically build and are not tied to ingame groups or warbands.
  • Easy setup of Calling groups through left-clicking the Calling icon left of the minimap.
  • Automatic forming of a calling group with all players in the same scenario (different groups for v0.5.1- and v0.6+).
  • A calls-list, showing the last 3 calls, allows to assist the respective callers by clicking on the entries.
  • On multiple usage, the Target macro toggles through the list of the last calls.
  • Hovering above the call-list's header, you will be shown a list with your calling-group's members.
  • A kills-list shows the statistics of the last 3 deaths of called targets and allows you to post the statistics of each kill to the chat.
  • Calls can be removed from the calls- and kills-lists by right-clicking on them.
  • All configurable options can be accessed through right-clicking the calling-icon left of the standard-minimap:

    • Configurable priorities decide if an incoming call should override the current call or not.
    • Most of Calling's graphical elements can be hidden through the Calling setup.
    • The group management functions (auto invite on request and showing invitation dialogs) can be supressed based on their origin and other factors.
    • Calls are automatically withdrawn if the system detects the death of the called target (can be toggled on and off).
    • The plugin can show a marker above the currently called enemy player. This Option is a little bit performance intensive.

      • Due to limitations in WAR's scripting interface the marker will not always be shown before targeting the called player for the first time. It will not work for NPC at all.

Planned Features

  • ... maybe your most desired feature, please support me in further improving the plugin by providing feedback!

Important

Due to the necessary changes to ensure Calling's functionality, players with Calling v0.5.1- will not end up in the same scenario calling group as players with Calling v0.6+.

The group advertising options from v1.0.2 are not compatible with those of previous versions. As v1.0.1 does not work at all under Warhammer 1.3.1 this should not be a problem.

Dependencies

  • Some standard components of WARs UI are needed: chat window, macro window, help window, keymapping window, minimap
  • Optional: LibSlash

For further information see the readme.txt, included in the plugin directory or leave a comment on the plugin.

I am very sorry, but as i do not play WAR at the moment i cannot actively maintain Calling beyond 1.3.1.
